Earlier this year, Calman Technology completed an Industrial Group Project with the Design Manufacturing and Engineering Management department at Strathclyde University.

This flagship initiative; designed to foster links with industry, is in it's 22nd year. Our project with four graduates who were studying for their Master's degrees focused on failure mode analysis in membrane keypad manufacture.

The project defined improvement tool sets to be applied to Calman's production and test processes to reduce risk and provide sustainable improvements such as Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Statistical Process Control and Value Stream Mapping.

As a direct result of the project, we will be investing in updated functional test equipment and applying new analytical management tools to pursue further opportunities for improvement to our processes. Expect to see further articles detailing some of this work and also other new projects following the success of this collaboration with Strathclyde University.
